2024 Goals
It’s almost New Year and I’m sitting at a chai ki tapri with my friend going back and forth over what caption to use for his Instagram post.
We’ve just come from a short trip to Central Bangalore. The plan was to spend the evening in Cubbon Park and head to Church Street for the New Year festivities. But, traffic, the city’s main character had different plans. The Park was closed and Church Street was too crowded so we decided to have something to eat and head back home. As I’m driving back, I can’t help but notice how similar 2023 has gone for me. Rarely did things go as planned but I’m very happy with how things turned out.
2023 was a great year in my personal development arc. I sold my three-year-long venture, started a new one, cooked a lot of meals, reconnected with old friends, had a health scare, learned to ride a bike, and took a lot of long walks.
At the start of the year, I had decided to measure myself on the following three traits -
- Boldness - While there were moments of boldness sprinkled here and there, I believe there’s a lot more I can do.
- Consistency - I was probably on par with what I would have liked but there’s always room for improvement.
- Kindness - This is a tricky one to evaluate. I’d like to believe that I’m a kind person but who knows? Also, I don’t think “let’s do something kind today” is the way to go here. Probably a good start is being more aware and respectful of others.
I’d like to continue working on the above traits in 2024 as well. I’d also like to be more free in ways that I’m currently not. For example, I haven’t traveled much in the last few years and this is something I’d like to change. But this isn’t restricted to just travel, the idea is to sometimes surrender and say yes to more experiences.
More specifically, I’d like to achieve the following goals this year -
- Grow CodeConvert - Increase the user base and revenue, continuous product improvement, try new marketing channels, and double down on SEO. The aim is to make it more sustainable.
- Build a small team to work on projects together. Solopreneurship is liberating but I think working with driven and kind people would be more fun.
- Visit parents more than just Holi and Diwali. Also, at least one trip with them.
- Add variety to cooking meals.
- Actively share my journey and learnings on Twitter and LinkedIn.
- Travel more - solo, with friends.
- Write more.
I don’t know how things will turn out this year but what I do know is that I’m going in this year as a more confident and calmer self. There’s a lot to do and experience. I wish you a very Happy New Year and leave you with this quote by Allama Iqbal.
तू शाहीन है, परवाज़ है काम तेरा,
तिरे सामने आसमाँ और भी हैं।
तू शाहीन है, बसेरा कर पहाड़ों की चट्टानों पर,
सितारों के आगे जहाँ और भी हैं।
